This upcoming Saturday, we will be meeting at 6:00 AM at the Desert Vista High School track in order to run our Magic Mile. This is a deviation from the schedule posted on line but it is intentional so don’t be concerned. The intent of the MM is to help each runner determine their appropriate pace for training and racing. The MM is not mandatory so please don’t stress if your preference is to skip the timing and run the course at a comfortable pace. After the runners have completed their MM, we will divvy up into the appropriate subgroups, and run a 3 mile route around Lakewood. There will be extra mileage for the full marathoners.

There are three start times for runners this Saturday, start times are:
Group 1 – Marathon, 3 AM – meet @ Bagel Nosh

Group 2 – Marathon, 4:30 AM – meet Bagel Nosh
Group 3 – Half Marathon, 6 AM – meet Sole Sports

Sadly I won’t be running the streets of Music City. It’s been recommended that I take some time off from running, 2 months specifically! My recurrent plantar fasciitis is driving me crazy. PT helps but each time I go out for more than 5 miles the pain returns. Those who have experienced this condition will know what I mean; with each step your brain receives that pain message from down below. It’s especially noticeable when one first gets out of bed in the morning and hobbles to the coffee pot. I walked down to the Country Music Hall of Fame yesterday but ran out of time and did not take the tour. I limped back to the hotel and thought about swimming but never made it. I don’t have any races planned but maybe I can learn from this experience…….to be continued. Ken

This Saturday will be the first meeting for the Half-Marathon group. Everyone is welcome, no matter what level runner/walker you are. We will be meeting at Roadrunner Sports in the Tempe Marketplace, McClintock and the 202, @ 6 A.M. We will be running approximately 3 miles using 1 : 1 intervals; walk for one minute, run for one minute. This type of interval training is the central premise of the Galloway method. See you there!
Below is an extra 4 mile loop for some of the marathon group. The run goes south at the palm walk on the ASU campus.

Here are two 6+ mile loops that begin and end @ Sole Sports. We will probably do the north loop first due to darkness and finish with the south loop which covers some new territory.
